The retirement of Doug Thompson

This week we closed one of the chapters in the Wakeling Automotive journey, with the retirement of our long time Hyundai Sales Manager, Doug Thompson. Doug started with Wakeling some 23 years ago in the late 90's as a Trainee Sales Consultant fresh from the hospitality insdustry. Working as my right hand man in Hyundai sales, he was quickly appointed to the position of Assistant Manager and continued his rise by justifiable being promoted to Sales Manager shortly thereafter. Since that time, Doug has been the anchor of one of Australia's most successful Hyundai dealerships, winning numerous awards and getting credit both state based and nationally. Out of all Doug's many strengths, for me the most prominent are his ability to remember almost any customer from years ago and his voracious story telling of the old days. I'll certainly miss Doug and his wife Christine from our day to day working lives but am very confident that they'll continue to enjoy each other and life, and may even pop in from time to time to continue the story.
